I want to start by thanking all of the loyal Hamilton Trails golfers who I have met over the past 4 months. You are the reason we are here, and we appreciate your support and patronage. This is the first of hopefully many posts I will be sharing over the course of our ownership of The Trails where I will document our journey, share the latest news and celebrate the many events over the life of this business.

For my first ever post I thought it would be appropriate to look back at the first 4 months of ownership and reflect on the many great moments over that time. We took ownership of The Trails on July 1st 2022 and from day one the former owners Jack and Andrew were fonts of knowledge and support. They shared the vast experience they had gained over 15 years of ownership and their support helped jump start our success.

Taking over mid-summer meant we were thrown straight into the deep end. Just about every day was over 100 rounds with tee times booked from dawn to dusk. This meant we were learning not only how to change cups and hand water greens but also how to manage tee times to optimize not only the number of golfers but also the overall golfer experience. As many of you know this summer was also one of the driest on record. Between July 1st and August 31st I think there was a total of 2 days where it rained! We split our time between hand watering greens and repairing irrigation system failures, the importance of water was never more clear!

As things began to slow down at the end of September we had an opportunity to take a breath and assess what we would like to change and improve. After collecting feedback from customers, we decided our focus areas would be, filling in patchy spots on fairways, providing more consistent well maintained tee boxes, and repairing and filling bunkers. These efforts are all ongoing and I will share more details in future posts.

Overall the experience of owning and operating a 9-hole golf course has been amazing! The customers are happy to be here and full of praise for our hard work. The beauty of our 60+ acres of land is the best office anyone could ask for. And the inside and outside staff are exceptional to work with. I am truly blessed to be a part of such an awesome business.
